‘Sentimental Value’ is de langverwachte nieuwe film van Joachim Trier. Voor deze opvolger van ‘The Worst Person in the World’ brengt Trier een indrukwekkende cast samen, met onder anderen Stellan Skarsgård, Elle Fanning en opnieuw Renate Reinsve.

Zussen Nora (Renate Reinsve) en Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) worden herenigd met hun afwezige vader Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), ooit gerenommeerde filmregisseur. Hij biedt Nora, theateractrice, een rol aan in de film die zijn grote comeback moet worden. Wanneer Nora de rol afwijst, ontdekt ze dat hij haar rol aan de jonge Hollywoodster Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning) heeft gegeven. De twee zussen moeten de moeilijke relatie met hun vader onder ogen zien, én omgaan met een Amerikaanse ster die midden in hun complexe familieverhoudingen is beland.

De film werd bekroond met de Grand Prix op het afgelopen Filmfestival van Cannes – en dat is niet voor niets. Prachtige cinematografie en acteerprestaties op topniveau zorgden ervoor dat Vogue de film kroonde tot ‘The Best Film of the Year’.

‘Sentimental Value’ est le nouveau film de Joachim Trier (‘The Worst Person in the World’), avec cette fois encore Renate Reinsve dans le rôle principal. Le film suit Nora, actrice (Reinsve) et sa sœur Agnes, qui viennent de perdre leur mère. Lorsque leur père Gustav, cinéaste à succès, reprend contact avec elles par le biais d’un nouveau scénario, il propose le rôle principal à Nora. C’est une première tentative pour reconstruire le lien entre père et filles.
