Belfast, Ierland. Als het lot de verveelde muziekleraar JJ samenbrengt met de vrienden Naoise en Liam Óg, zelfverklaard ‘low life scum’, is dat het begin van een Ierse hiphop-act zonder weerga. Rappend in hun moedertaal breken ze al snel door als het rebelse trio Kneecap, en worden ze het boegbeeld van een burgerrechtenbeweging die als doel heeft de Ierse taal te redden. Terwijl de discussie hierover in de publieke arena losbarst, doen politie en politici hun uiterste best het anarchistische trio de mond te snoeren.

Deze rebelse, razend originele biopic is even ruig, onstuimig en beminnelijk als de gelijknamige hiphop-band waarover hij gaat. De leden van Kneecap spelen zichzelf en laten een wereldwijde strijdkreet horen ter verdediging van hun cultureel erfgoed.
