In een Roemeens dorp heeft Dragoi, een vrome familieman, een aanzienlijke schuld bij de plaatselijke gangster Zentov. Wanneer zijn 17-jarige zoon Adi op wrede wijze wordt aangevallen, gaat Dragoi ervan uit dat het een waarschuwing is om zijn schuld te vereffenen. Hij ontdekt echter een veel schrijnender waarheid: Adi was niet het doelwit vanwege de schulden van zijn vader, maar vanwege zijn seksuele geaardheid.
