Frankrijk, 1963. Anne is een veelbelovende studente met een mooie toekomst voor zich. Maar de droom om haar studie af te maken en zich van haar sociale afkomst los te wrikken, spat uiteen als ze onverwachts zwanger raakt. Terwijl haar eindexamens naderen besluit Anne het heft in eigen handen te nemen. Met het risico hiervoor in de gevangenis te belanden.
